Child Survival: Call to Action

On June 14th, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton will deliver remarks at Child Survival: Call to Action – a global event co-convened by the United States, India, and Ethiopia in collaboration with UNICEF announcing a new partnership to end preventable child deaths. Over the last 50 years, child mortality has been reduced by 70 percent. More than 7 million children, however, will die this year before they reach their 5th birthday. Focused on ending preventable child death through survival of newborns, children, and mothers, the two-day call to action will convene 700 prominent leaders from government, the private sector, and civil society to kick off a long-term, business-like effort to save children’s lives.

My friend asked that I get a photo with George- or should I call him Mr. Martin?- before we left Technicon 25 in our dust, so what was I gonna do? Say no?

I let my buddy use my Rebel XTi, had it on P, but unfortunatley I had the AF set to the center point..... so the chairs in the row behind Mr. Martin and I are in PERFECT focus.... us not so much.

All the same, it turned out better than most of the film pictures I ever took, and it's the only photo I have of me with a celebrity, and this one just happens to be a damn good author.

Oh, and it was my 26th birthday, happy birthday to me!
